Pure Wonder

It deliberately rolled up to the dirt pile and tilted its head back. Then it scooped a giant claw full of the reddish-brown clay that lay beneath it.

The boom turned quickly and expertly, knowing there was no danger of hitting anything.

As it rose over the top of the dump truck beside it, it tilted back once again and released its contents.

It turned back to the pile and began again. And so it continued, until there was nothing left.

The toddler watched this from his window, eyes wide, mouth agape, in awe of the excavator before him.
