Unquiet Time

By: Ed Dzitko

The sign in the elevator lobby read “We observe quiet time between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.” The couple next door apparently didn’t care.

At 1:30 a.m., he woke from what he thought was a dream. But the sounds continued.

Right there, right there. Oh, baby. YES!

He went to take a shower. They were done when he came out, so he dozed until 3. He tried not to listen to the new intoxicating rhythm. At 3:30, he showered once more.

He didn’t care if they did it again. He was off to the airport to head home.
