Only their eyes were exposed.
The unmistakable smell of burning flesh began to fill the room. They stared at each other, and a knowing look locked their gaze. They knew the smell.
Their eyes darted to something moving below. Bright, red liquid began to flow through the clear tube. She could see he was nervous. He could see that she searched for comfort in his stare. His eyes smiled in a meager attempt to emit calm.
There was a pulling, a rocking. A moment of confusion.
Their baby boy appeared from the other side of the curtain. Their eyes beamed.
